Winter is on hold for the month of December but not to worry #BOTS fans.

All of the data is suggesting that the month of December will be above average on temperatures and I totally agree with that. It doesn't mean that it can't or wont snow but it might be harder for snow to form with milder temperatures. The current pattern of snow, to 65 degrees, and then back to freezing, looks like it will hang on for the rest of December. Beyond that, I disagree with the National Weather Service's outlook for January. The NWS it giving us above normal temperature through February.

When you look at the CFS, you get a completely different picture, one of absolutely bitter cold air. My gut says the truth lies somewhere in the middle and that January turns out to be normal if not slightly below normal. The way I see it, it looks like the cold air will  build and build and build in Canada for the rest of this month and then it will slowly push southwards into America by January. Take a look this. It's unbelievable!

Notice the time and date stamps at the top left. Christmas Day eye candy.

Now watch the cold air move south. -33 degrees in Montana!

Two degrees in Atlanta Georgia? So obviously, something is wrong here. Also, the GFS picks up on the this same trend. (The last frame ends with the bright pink / fuschia color in the top left of the frame in Canada)

AccuWeather is going for about average for January. The average high should be 37 and the average low should be 21.

Stay tuned!
