What happened in Bloomington yesterday was called supercell thunderstorm.

Many are asking why we didn't hear the tornado sirens yesterday. Technically, there was no tornado. Supercells are 'capable' of producing tornadoes but that didn't happen yesterday. Yesterday's damage was due to high winds. Terre Haute and Bloomington took the brunt of the storm and sustained the most damages. There a 60% chance of thunderstorms today and tonight but they are not expected to be severe.
